I posted this valley oak to ‘beginbonsai.net’ about three years ago (see https://beginbonsai.net/2020/04/26/valley-oak-quercus-lobata/), after developing it for two years from nursery stock.

The tree today. This picture shows it in a messy ‘grow-out’ stage, before I remove the wire and prune back the branches after it loses its leaves for winter. I plan to put it in a bonsai pot next spring.
